So, can I take a moment to be transparent? Here’s a newsflash…I’m not perfect! I am a flawed individual who has struggles, just like everyone else. And one thing that I have struggled with recently is being motivated. In previous episodes we’ve talked about setting goals, being consistent and disciplined, and getting things done! But what happens when you’ve been working, grinding, getting things done and you just hit a wall? You don’t have the desire, energy, or will to keep going. If you’ve felt this way or you currently feel this way, don’t fret my pet! It happens to the best of us, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. So for this episode I want to inspire you to stay motivated.
Here are a few simple things I do to help keep me motivated:
Pray & read the Bible. One helpful verse (the Bible is full of them) is 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” This verse inspires me to keep going and to know that all the work is WORTH IT!
Listen to podcasts: Duh! Of course I love podcasts! My favorite one is my own podcast. Yes, I listen to every episode the day is releases to stay encouraged. Another one of my favorite episodes is the Joel Osteen Podcast. His 30 minute or less episodes always help me to feel better.
Inspiring Youtube videos: Now, you have to be careful here. There’s a lot of stuff on youtube and most of it isn’t inspiring, lol. I love to listen to interview by Maya Angelou, Oprah, Michelle Obama, and…Kobe Bryant! I’m always inspired by athlete’s drive and ambition. Watching videos about the Black Mamba’s work ethic always makes me want to get up and go!
Lastly, REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED! This is a must! If nothing else works, reflect on why you are even doing this work in the first place. Remember the impact you want to make in the world. Remember the people you want to help. Remember all the things that matter to you and get up and do it!
Staying motivated can be hard, especially when you’re running on empty. Put a few things in place to give you a little pick-me-up when you need. I hope these tips help you stay motivated while you do your work.
